Wow! This sounds a lot like the list my Engliush teacher gave me fifty years ago except that she thought The Scarlet Letter, since it dealt with adultery, was too risque for high school students and gave us The House of the Seven Gables.
I like The Scarlet Letter a lot. The Hunchback of Notre Dame is an exciting adventure novel and an excellent movie was made from it. Never Cry Wolf also had an excellent movie made from it. I’ve never read the book, but I’ve been told the movie follows it very closely. Good luck to you and why don’t you suggest to your teacher that she or he update the list.
