Need suggestions on how to paint bedroom furniture. Is there a simple way?
I have 2 daughters, one 12 & one 3. Currently they share a room. They have matching redwood beds, also cream color dresser & nightstand. I really want to change the color of the furniture. Can not afford new furniture @ the moment Any simple suggestions, any spray paint can I use????? I need HELP!!
The others are correct. There really is no shortcut to repainting furniture.
Lightly sanding the furniture is a must. Also priming with a good quality primer. I use Kilz2 Latex.
For the topcoat I would use a good quality latex, probably semi-gloss finish.
Semi-gloss would give the furniture a good shine but not too shiny.
I like Olympic, Valspar, Behr. Use latex, not oil base paint.
You could spray paint the furniture too but I think that using a good quality brush and latex would work better.
You can find the good brushes at Home Depot or Lowes. Use a 2″ brush. Expect to pay around $8-10. This is also necessary to get a smooth finish.
This is not a hard project, just slightly time consuming.
Take your time. You do not have to do all the pieces in the same day.
Allow plenty of dry time between coats.
Do not attach the hardware for a few days after the paint dries.
